Event Details
DescriptionThe moment you've waited three years for has finally arrived. Radiohead announced their first extensive U.S. tour since 2008's In Rainbows tour via their website Monday, with 10 dates running through March, and more to come.
The tour -- the first for their latest album, The King of Limbs -- will begin on Feb. 27 in Miami, FL, with dates running through March 15 in Glendale, AZ. It will wind from Florida to Georgia, Texas, Missouri, Colorado and Arizona. Other Lives, an indie band from Oklahoma, described as "dynamic, orchestral pop," will support the band on these dates.
Radiohead
When people think of the most popular and successful alternative rock band in the world right now, most minds will wander towards Radiohead. With tour dates that sell out in a matter of hours, eight groundbreaking albums, and three Grammy awards, Radiohead has taken the world by storm. Radiohead's latest album, The King of Limbs, has received outstanding reviews from critics everywhere and, while there are no 2011 tour dates to promote the album, has been praised by fans as well.
Originally called On a Friday, the members of Radiohead met at Abingdon School in Oxfordshire and formed a band circa 1985. Radiohead's early albums contained a somber tone that was commercially unsuccessful and drew references from critics to the group being a Nirvana rip-off. Those critics, with foot in mouth, would praise Radiohead upon the release of OK Computer, in 1997. Supported by the radio-friendly single, "Karma Police", the album won a Grammy for Best Alternative Album and led to grueling tour dates on the Against Demons World Tour. Kid A and Hail to the Thief experienced similar success and the 2005 album, In Rainbow, received some of the greatest praise of any Radiohead album, again winning a Grammy for Best Alternative Album.
Radiohead's most recent album, The King of Limbs, is being praised as a continuation of the band's broadening of accessibility while retaining their signature, hit style. It's this same style that fans will hear on upcoming tour dates in 2011; if there were any. Other than a previous, surprise performance at Glastonbury, fans will just have to wait patiently for the announcement of a new concert schedule.

RSS
RSS is a regularly updated summary of events that can be viewed through an RSS reader, along with links to full versions of events. When you subscribe to an RSS feed of events, you'll receive a summary of new events through your RSS reader. When you click on an RSS button, your browser may display a page of web code; if this happens, review your reader's documentation on how to subscribe to an RSS feed.
RSS readers are as numerous as the stars on a clear night during a concert at the park. To find a reader, try Google or ask your friends what they use.
