Tropical Nights" is your way to help those affected by autism living in South Florida. It is a fundraiser benefiting the programs, services and research initiatives of the University of Miami – Nova Southeastern University Center for Autism & Related Disabilities (UM-NSU CARD). Our event is a festive celebration designed to raise autism awareness while entertaining our guests with fine food, drinks, music, and dancing, as we acknowledge the tireless efforts of important members of our community. All said and done, we invite you to join us in our tropical celebration & join us in saying aloud, #iBenefitAutism.

Tropical Nights allows us to acknowledge individuals who have made valuable contributions to our local autism community. This year we will honor two outstanding individuals: Dr. Jennifer Durocher will receive the CARD Community Leadership Award, and Stacey Hoaglund who will receive the Cruz-Whitehurst Advocacy Award. Each year Tropical Nights has a featured artist. This year our artist John Matthew Colona, diagnosed with autism at the age of three, was born in Miami in 1997 and is a self-taught Digital Artist. John Matthew's will to learn, along with his colorful imagination has created and array of Digital Artworks using his preferred method of drawing, a mouse on Windows Paint. He enjoys drawing caricatures and animals with vivid colors and expressions. His art has been exhibited in many collective art shows since 2007.
